Kirkland is one of the largest cities in King county, Washington. A unique and distinguishing factor is its downtown setting. It is the only city to have its downtown on Lake Washington’s shoreline where it boasts amazing features including art galleries, restaurants, beaches, public parks, a collection of public art as well as a 400 seat performing arts center.
Kirkland was formerly home to the Seattle Seahawks sports team which was later relocated to Renton in 2008. Kirkland was also home to the store chain “Costco” which has its “Kirkland” brand products named accordingly. Other notorious organizations in Kirkland include the site of Google’s development office.
During the summer months residents in nearby towns make frequent visits to Kirkland’s waterfront parks that are adjoined by paved paths. In fact, accessibility by bike is something that takes a precedence where all city planning for roads and transportation include making bike paths as a part of regular strategy.
